We’re Browncoats, a global community that shares a passion for the critically-acclaimed TV series Firefly. After cancellation in the middle of its first season, creator Joss Whedon—along with Mary Parent and Universal Studios—brought us Serenity, a major motion picture continuing the story of Malcolm Reynolds, his crew, and their Firefly-class transport vessel, Serenity. The “Big Damn Movie”, as Browncoats christened Serenity while waiting for the release of its official title, premiered September 30th, 2005, nearly 3 years after Firefly was cancelled. This website is an expression of our gratitude for Universal, Joss, the cast, crew, and fans who never gave up hope, and whose tireless efforts made our Big Damn Movie possible.
